Stp Press: Carnival celebration dates for Jimena

The Council has set the dates for Carnival celebrations in the municipality. (Although Carnival is supposed to be a 'beginning-of-Lent' religious thing, 'secular licence' makes sure that it is not all held at the same time everywhere. This applies to the whole of Spain.) The dates for 2012 are as follows: San Martín del Tesorillo: March 2 - 4; San Pablo de Buceite, March 9 -11; Jimena de la Frontera, March 16 to 18. "We have had two holidays at Casa Limon, once with friends and once as a couple. Both times had a really enjoyable stay, the house is well equipped, comfortable and very clean.

If there are any problems they are quickly and efficiently sorted out by the owners representative.

The village has a good supply of shops and bars. The terrain is quite steep so reasonable fitness required.

"We have just got back from a wonderful time in Jimena!
We felt privileged to share for a short while the house you had clearly put so much effort into creating.

We loved sitting under your big healthy lemon tree, or sometimes had breakfast on the roof where the sun was arriving about 9am and the eagles were soaring above.

We also liked the big comfortable bed, and the fact that there was a little food in the house, when we arrived tired and when all the shops were shut. I liked that cooperativeness, I don't think I have ever found that in any other holiday home. We left some contributions in exchange."

"We have used the house several times and intend to do so again. We love Jimena; the area is good for walking and bird-watching and is not at all 'touristy'. We developed our own routine of early morning walks down by the river, afternoons reading and snoozing under the shade of the lemon tree, and evenings enjoying village life or a walk to enjoy the views from the castle. The lemon tree is a real bonus - the fruit is massive and really juicy and delicious - home made lemonade strwaight from the fridge - what a treat! Janet P

The countryside around Jimena is as beautiful as it is varied. There are several 'cotos de caza' (game preserves) as well as rich forest land and mountains all around.

The village and its surrounding countryside is a joy for nature lovers and those looking for calm and relaxation.

There is a Railway station 5 minutes drive from us which can take to Ronda and other interesting locations in Andalusia.

Everyone is very friendly and welcoming you will feel like staying.

You don't have to miss the beach either, the nearest beach is just 25 minutes drive away.

There are riding stables in the area that will take you on guided tours of the countryside.
